Weekend Off

I don't do this often, but I am officially taking the weekend off in honor of Lori's 40th birthday. By "officially" I mean the computer will stay off for the entire duration of the weekend and it will be a complete "us" weekend. The last time I did this was back in January when we got married.

We're not doing anything extravagant for her birthday although Saturday we will go out for a nice dinner, do a bit of shopping and watch some rented movies. Sunday we're just going to work on our landscaping project and take it easy. There is no schedule, alarm clocks will not be set and the voice mail can pick up the calls.

I remember about a month ago I asked her what she wanted for her birthday and she said, "As long as we're able to spend time together, that's all that matters." I have to admit I was rather touched by this sentiment and that was when I made the decision that her birthday (which happens to fall on Saturday) would be "us" time. I don't think she believed me when I first told her. I am a workaholic at heart and she knows that I very seldom take days off. Yes, I did reassure her that I would stay at least 5 feet away from my work desk.
